I use a 3mm Craftwood (low acid) Artist board which has been
primed with an acrylic priming paint. ·
Or I use primed artist canvas over stretcher Framing:
A matter of personal taste ·
Traditionally oil paintings have been framed using timber
moulding(s) to compliment the painting. This is a method used by my picture
framer and myself. · Watercolor and pastel paintings must be framed under glass for protection of the painting surface. Even though glass is not needed for protection of an oil painting, I like the qualities of reflection and gloss that this style of framing gives. Thus, I do frame many of my artist board paintings, especially marine scenes, in this way. . Many of my large canvases look their best unframed when I paint around the edge of the canvas. ENJOY
