Commission
Painting Process I
can paint, frame and deliver to your door. Allow me to capture a favorite scene
as a unique oil painting, which will be a lasting memory and makes a wonderful
gift from the heart for someone special. From
photo to painting.............. Generally
I can work from photos, one of which should basically capture the scene
as desired. Then, support photos may be sent to show extra details and
information of the scene, to help me more accurately create the desired image.
Please indicate clearly which photo is the main photo, and which are support
photos. Photos can easily be returned. It is important to understand that an oil
painting is more than a photo. It is an artist’s interpretation of a
scene, using “artistic licence” to define or highlight certain aspects,
which will create a unique original work of art. If you wish I can take the
necessary photos which can be used for your painting. Sizes............
Firstly think about your wall space and consider whether a landscape “ Canvas Stretcher:- Medium 800mm x 620mm
Large 940mm x 740mm Extra large 1010mm x 800mm Big wall size 4ft x 3ft or 5ft x 3ft Painting on board:-
Medium 50x 35cm, when framed approx. 73x58cm.
Large 70x 48cm, when framed approx. 94x73cm. Extra large 96x 67cm, when framed approx. 123x 94cm. I can
commence a commissioned work once I have a set of photos, specific details of
your needs, and a commencement fee of 25% of total cost. A commissioned painting
usually takes about four weeks to complete. The process involves preliminary
sketches, colour study, assessment of composition and painting approach. Then a
careful drawing up of the painting scene is made. The actual painting process
can take 1-2 weeks depending on technique and the need for drying time. Once
dry, I will contact you to update you with progress and provide you with an
image for your approval. Framing generally takes one
week. Framing........... A
frame needs to compliment the painting first, but also with consideration for
decor tones. Generally, artworks painted on board are framed under glass to both
protect the painting, and very importantly, to add depth and reflective
qualities to the water in marine scenes. When painting on canvas stretcher I
will not always use a frame. Unframed canvases stretchers look very modern when
painted around the edges and stand out from the hanging wall. When framed I generally use
a standard oil painting frame. The completed framed painting is photographed, and
a copy promptly sent to you, for your appraisal. And finally.......... Please
forward the balance of monies owing after approval of the image and prepare your wall space.......... The
painting will be packaged carefully and delivered to your door........ I
anticipates another delighted client !
